iPhone Rumor; Next Generation iPhone Finally Include NFC Support

The next generation iPhone in 2012, including NFC support, according to DigiTimes.
NFC stands for Near Field Communication, is a low-energy, short proximity-based method of making monetary transactions.
In essence, it allows you to pay for purchases by waving your phone instead of a reading very close to having a credit card or other method of payment used. NFC-enabled phones are becoming more and more common and there is a lot of pressure to make this a standard for payment.

DigiTimes reports that Apple plans to support NFC IOS in 2012:

Like Android, Symbian, BlackBerry and have Bada support NFC (Near Field Communication) function, and Microsoft and Apple plans to Windows Phone and IOS support NFC by 2012, the share of NFC-enabled smart phones will quickly this time increase of less than 10% to over 50% in two to three years, according to Taiwan-based smartphone makers.

The approval is shaky, to say the least. This was largely due to different methods of standardization, not technological problems. However, the GSM Association is to promote a SIM-based NFC standard that more than 45 airlines have shown support for the entire world. This includes both AT & T and Verizon in the U.S., the top two carriers in the U.S. and both carry Apple's iPhone.

We heard rumors earlier this year that says the 2011 NFC iPhone would support include, but as we have found Apple's iPhone 4S lacked. However, when we wind of this change in May caught, we said that some sources predicted that it would be included in the 2012 iPhone.

It is unclear whether the delay was due to costs, production problems, or because the NFC standardization problems, but it appears that Apple is gearing to support this revolutionary technology fee. DigiTimes predicts that the technology will be more than 50% penetration in the smartphone market in just 2-3 years, and Apple's involvement would be a very important role in that endeavor.
