When it comes to tempting offers and fantastic smartphone offerings, Verizon always leads the pack with his seasoned catalog that make everyone crazy when deciding which device to retrieve. Under the current offer is a popular trio of HTC devices and a solitary Samsung smartphone.
Get your gear ready for when we look at the HTC Thunderbolt, HTC Droid Incredible 2, HTC Trophy, and Samsung Stratosphere to take.
Design and Display
When it comes to viewing options all smartphone is packed with gorgeous 480 × 800 resolution with the Thunderbolt lead the group with its huge 4.3 inch display. Second place goes to the Stratosphere, with its 4.0-inch Super AMOLED display and the Droid Incredible 2 with 4-inch WVGA touchscreen. The HTC Trophy comes in as the smallest 3.8-inch display.
Users who are comfortable with having a physical keyboard on their phones will not be disappointed because the Stratosphere is fully equipped with a sliding keyboard.
The trio of HTC smartphones have the same physical structure found in many of HTC's devices. The stylish curves and the black glossy finish are usually present in all of the devices, except for the Droid Incredible sporting an old "iPhonish" look with a single button in iconic HTC's 4-way navigation keys.
RAM and Storage
Although the HTC Trophy has a massive 16 GB of internal storage, it does not support a microSD card slot. The Droid Incredible 2 on the other hand has its way around with 8 GB of internal storage and an expandable microSD card slot. The Thunderbolt and the Stratosphere both have 4 GB of internal storage each.
Memory will never be an issue for the Droid Incredible 2, Stratosphere, and Thunderbolt since these three are fully equipped with microSD card slots that are fully expandable up to 32 GB. The HTC Trophy, on the other hand, has the greatest amount of internal storage, although it does not have a microSD expansion slot.
The Stratosphere sports 512 MB of RAM, while the HTC Trophy has a little more with 576 MB of RAM. The built-in RAM is just right for day-to-day applications; expect to see fluid reaction times and virtually no lag in switching between processes.
The 768 MB of RAM on the HTC Droid Incredible 2 and the HTC Thunderbolt is enough to keep the competition at bay. The large enough memory, coupled with the large display, ensures the device gets the extra memory it needs to keep up with applications that gobble up too much resources.
Devices equipped with a larger RAM often show faster response times and smoother operating process.
Camera
In the camera department, both the Droid Incredible 2 and Thunderbolt share an 8 MP camera while the Stratosphere and Trophy come with 5 MP shooters onboard. Camera features include autofocus, LED flash, smile detection, and geo-tracking. The Droid Incredible 2 and Thunderbolt also have dual-LED flash functionality for their respective cameras. The other two only have single-LED flash.
The HTC Thunderbolt is a decent point and click shooter. Whether you’re on an adventure at the public park or snapping random photos, the Thunderbolt’s camera won’t disappoint you. The same can be said of the Droid Incredible 2′s camera.
Processor and Operating System
All four smartphones feature a tough 1.0-GHz processor for day-to-day activities. Of the four smartphones, the only device that does not sport an Android OS, the HTC Trophy. The Microsoft Windows 7 operating system is a possible alternative for users who want other features that Android does not offer or will not bid on anything.
The HTC Droid Incredible 2 running Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box, but there is the possibility to upgrade to the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread update. The Thunderbolt also comes with Froyo, but like the Droid Incredible 2, it is to upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The Samsung Stratosphere's Gingerbread pre-installed.
The Verdict
If you are tired of the same old same operating system phones, the HTC Trophy is a good option for you to try. It may not have the luxury of having a large number of applications or a thriving community of developers, but it pretty much gets the job done.
For the business-savvy people, the Stratosphere integrated keyboard will come in handy for writing emails and edit spreadsheets on the road. Combined with a stunning 4.0-inch Super AMOLED display, it will certainly bring great functionality when combining business and entertainment. For those looking for the ultimate gaming device, the Thunderbolt does not disappoint. Packed with blazing fast network speeds, large display, and a great camera, it is the ultimate choice for a busy techy lifestyle. Finally, the day-to-day person, the Droid Incredible 2 packs a punch and still remains a smart choice for those seeking an active lifestyle.
