Sn0wbreeze is considered the unofficial PwnageTool for Windows. It allows users to create custom iOS 5.0.1 firmware file that is pre-jailbroken, which can be used to their iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch 5.0.1 upgrade to IOS.

In the case of the iPhone, but also preserves the baseband from getting upgraded, so it can be unlocked using Ultrasn0w.

Dev team strongly recommends jailbreakers and unlockers to avoid upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 until they figure out the process to downgrade to iOS 5.

Many users who recently upgraded their devices iOS 5 experienced great battery life issues. It seems that the iPhone and iPad users are more affected than the iPod touch users.

Regardless of what iOS device you own, here are some tips that can help improve your iOS device battery life.

With all the great features iOS 5 has to offer, it's no surprise that your battery is taking a hit. This is particularly due to the synchronization function icloud's. However, if you do not use everything all the time, eliminating what you do not need constant help save you close to iPhone, iPhone or iPod touch.
  1. Turn on Bluetooth (Settings> General> Bluetooth> "Off")
  2. Turn off all or specific app Notifications in the Notification Center (Settings> Notifications> "Off" for all the unnecessary apps)
  3. Enable Ping (Settings> General> Restrictions> Enable Restrictions> Ping> "Off")
  4. Disable Time Zone Adjustment (Settings> Location Services> System Services> Set Time Zone to "Off")
  5. Icloud off (Settings> General> icloud> "Off" for redundant functions)
  6. Turn off Location Services (Settings> Location Services> "Off" for redundant functions)
  7. Off for diagnosis and reports (Settings> General> About> Diagnostic & Used> "Do not Send")
  8. Reset Network Settings (Settings> Reset> Reset Network Settings) Note: This will reset all network settings, including passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
  9. Users report that deleting your e-mail accounts and re-add also seems to have helped a number of users:
  • Delete e-mail account (Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Account Name> Delete Account)
  • Reset Network Settings (Settings> Reset> Reset Network Settings)
  • Reboot Device
  • Re-add email accounts (Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Add Account)

Many users are reporting half their previous run-time, even when on standby, and many iPhone users say their phones are still pretty hot. Some iPhone users are icloud debt and have completely eliminated. Still others are blaming the Location-based Time Zone settings.

How is your battery do after upgrading to iOS 5? Have you done anything to improve it?

One of the features that are not related to iOS 5 was the ability to make FaceTime - Apple's video calling feature over 3G.
It is possible to turn it on the iPhone 4 by hacking one of the system files.

Here are the step by step instructions to enable the feature natively on your jailbroken iPhone 4:

Step 1: Download iFile for iPhone from Cydia or iExplorer for Mac and Windows
Step 2: Browse to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/
Step 3: Open the file named N90AP.plist (please take a backup of your iPhone before making any changes so you can restore it from the backup if you hit any issue)
Step 4: Below the <dict> line, under <key>capabilities</key>, add in <key>3Gvenice</key><true/>
Step 5: Save the changes.
If you've jailbroken your iOS device then jailbreak apps like My3G that allow you to make FaceTime calls over 3G.
That's it, you should now be able to make FaceTime calls over 3G.
As always, let us know how it goes.
