Android App; BitDefender Mobile Security Review

There are hundreds of security related apps on the Android Marketplace. Yes, they all more or less the same things, such as scan, find, fix, and usually, boring Android users.

Some security apps do not take any initiative in seeing the side of the average day user. What I mean is that there are so many problems caused by the security applications, such as slow processing or scanning errors telling you that your child's favorite movie is linked to a virus.

However, in the words of BitDefender, all seems well with the newly risen app. They have proved that the app is not a pile of junk that wastes space as some others, although claims that it "is not the best."

Like most applications, BitDefender has several additions for iteself. It is a malware scanner, application auditing, web security, anti-theft and event viewer.

Now it looks like it starts at the same slow pace as the others, but the performance that counts.

Malware Scanner

The scanner is average. Elapsed time is about 3 minites and 45 seconds, and gives the user no option for multiple scans, such as a fast, custom or full scan. Besides this, it is quite extensive.

On a recent scan, BitDefender noticed Z4Root was in the downloads folder. Instead of saying that it could be dangerous, it's just plainly told me that the malware.

I was well aware that the app is not a virus. But I also noticed that the advanced access to the phone, possibly a virus gained. Good looking out BitDefender!

Application Audit and Web Security

Application Audit requires really no explanation. It offers users a simple list of applications installed on their Android phone, which required special permission. The categories are "Internet, Privacy, and costs", which can be used together.

Along with the application security, BitDefender also offers help on the Internet. The simple addition provides protection against malicious websites before venturing them. When logging on a site that BitDefender believes is unsafe, it gives a warning.

Anti-theft and the Event Viewer

The anti-theft feature engages multiple settings, including an ON / OFF switch to activate things like "Remote Geolocation" that your lost or stolen phone can be found

"Remote lock and wipe" the device is advantageous to simply lock or wipe clean their data, collaborate with location interaction. Finally a "Device Admin" switch for all functions in anti-theft off.

This is also accessible via their PC client, bitdefender.com

The event viewer, you can watch all previous scans and actions taken by BitDefender Mobile Security.

Overall the application is worthwhile. Even though it is not really anything new to the table, it provides a less tedious and slow experience for users.

You can use the free app from the Android Market. Along with this, you get a 14-day, no-cost access to premium features such as Web Security and Anti-theft. Premium status is available for $ 9.95 on their website.

Will you be trying BitDefender? Is it worthwhile to buy premium capacity after the 14-day trial? I would like to hear
